It’s surrounded by an embarrassed silence. The emotional and existential echoes provoked by death are frequently reduced within an interpretation of the phenomenon to a simple biological fact. The growing number of people finding themselves hospitalized in the final period of their life cannot be considered as a mere request for material care. Ill people and their relatives are involved in a process of interpreting their painful experience. For this reason, it is important to provide a context where feelings of grief, angst and fear can be authentically heard.
