Abstract

L’istruzione superiore (FE) è stata spesso considerata come «il servizio Cenerentola» in relazione ad altre fasi; uno «spazio sommerso» che opera sotto la superficie e fuori dalla prospettiva delle principali politiche d’istruzione in Inghilterra. Essa rappresenta una visione contrastante che raffigura un settore spesso considerato una panacea per le questioni sociali di vario genere. FE fornisce una forza lavoro qualificata che spesso rappresenta un veicolo per migliorare lo sviluppo economico (DfEE 1998, Leitch 2006). Nonostante ciò ha ripetutamente subito tagli di finanziamento dal governo (Tickle 2014) oltre che un cambiamento politico imposto. Questo progetto di ricerca esplora le storie di entrambi, tutor e manager, spesso vittima di stessi processi manageriali nel contesto dell’istruzione superiore. I risultati hanno rivelato l’impatto della corporatizzazione sulla leadership e sui tutor e studenti, ed hanno esaminato come la collaborazione professionale ha permesso ai professionisti di sfidare la cultura prevalente in modo da aiutare il settore ad uscire fuori dall’ombra.
